Bhavani is 8 years old and comes from a remote, rural village in Tamil Nadu. Her parents, Sakthivel and Kamatchi, were just teenagers when she was born. Neither of them went to school, they cannot read or write and rely on begging as their only source of income.

For Bhavani, having a child sponsor is vital so that instead of accompanying her mother to the local temple to beg for food and money every day, she is able to go to school!

Receiving a quality education means so much for Bhavani. She is learning to read and write in Tamil and in English.  Her job opportunities will increase, her potential to earn will increase and, in turn, she will have more control and freedom to make decisions in her life.
