Triveni, 10 years old, is from Annanagar in Tamil Nadu. She lives with her mother, father and three siblings in a small home. In Annanagar, the only form of work is making mud pots and grazing goats. Triveni’s family was struggling to earn enough to support Triveni’s education and often asked her to miss school to help, as her father was ill.

Karthick is 7 years old and suffers from eye cancer. The cancer was discovered in November and since then Karthick has received chemotherapy and is due to have more. Karthick lives at home and is sponsored to go to nearby school through SOTE’s child sponsorship scheme.

Thamayanthi and Pranita

CRUSADE has recently developed a kit for mothers with newborn babies. This kit includes a number of necessities that mothers may not otherwise have access to. It includes clothing, medication for the baby and mother post delivery, soap, baby oil and more.  The Government currently gives similar supplies to babies born in hospitals so Crusade aren’t expanding this service at the moment, however it does exist to support mothers and babies who were not able to go to the hospitals such as Thamayanthi and Pranita.

This seemingly small act has a huge impact for her life, for example she will now be able to read bus numbers making travel much easier!

Rajeswari is 44 years old. She suffered from migraines and sweating for which she has previously taken medication she bought herself from a pharmacy. This proved ineffective so she has now seen a doctor at the medical camp organised through CRUSADE and is taking the medication prescribed there, to better results.
