Mass-Based Association for Social Service and Development (MASARD)

MASARD, established in 1983, focuses on poor, destitute and orphan children. In partnership with MASARD, Salt of the Earth will develop a holistic child sponsorship programme in five rural villages near Hosur, Tamil Nadu. The programme will ensure that each child goes to school and, in addition, the community will benefit from a number of awareness initiatives including Community Awareness Programs (HIV/AIDS, Environment, Water & Sanitation and Health).

MASARD will also provide emergency support for those in the community in crisis. Salt of the Earth and MASARD are hoping to develop more projects in the future to ensure the basic needs of the community are met.

Salt of the Earth think it’s vital that NGOs in Tamil Nadu share knowledge on their rural development work and we encourage our partners to share their expertise. We will promote knowledge and skills sharing between our three NGO partners linking them together to build a network of support and hope.
