Salt of the Earth Celebrate 30 years!

To celebrate our 30th year as a charity, we hosted a garden party at the Salt of the Earth head quarters in Leicester.

We enjoyed lots of tea and cake with around 80 of our friends, family and supporters. We also met some new people who were keep to learn more about us as an organisation.

Garden party goers were free to roam around the communal space, see the fruits of this years harvest in adjoining allotments and meet the chickens.

There was a Salt of the Earth information stall where visitors could learn about our sponsorship programmes, our partners in India, ways to get involved with the charity, our ethical gift range and our supporter visit to India in January. It was also an opportunity for guests to witness the Sawyer water filter in action as it filtered the garden pond water into a crystal clear drink in seconds. We had particular interest in our ‘fundraising for free’ methods such as Give As You Live and ink cartridge recycling.

Other stalls included gifts from India and Cambodia, homemade cards, jams & chutneys, afternoon teas and homegrown vegetables.

The party was a great opportunity for new Development Officer Emily to meet a lot of the trustees and supporters. There was a lovely atmosphere and the event reminded our supporters that we are active and well.

It was a commercial success as well. We have nearly £1,500 in raffle ticket sales, stall profits and donations.
